The Senior Residential Assistant (SRA) provides day-to-day supervision of a team of Residential Counselors, ensuring that all residential needs are met and EPGY Summer participants are properly supervised. The SRA operates at a higher level with respect to residential responsibilities than the Head Counselor position and it does not include an instructional component. Each SRA will be assigned a cluster of specific residences that he or she will oversee and will work with the Residential Director to plan and organize residential components of the program.

The SRAs will assist with staff training and organization, and are in charge of arrival and departure day planning, staff schedules, field trips, and other cluster-wide events. During the program, SRAs work closely with their teams of Head Counselors to make sure EPGY rules and guidelines are uniformly enforced across the different residences. SRAs are responsible for meeting regularly with their staff to ensure that the program runs smoothly, as well as to mediate staff issues and conflicts. The SRAs assist with handling disciplinary issues and medical emergencies involving students and staff.

SRAs also serve as the main on-site point person for interfacing with parents and Stanford University offices. The position requires a high level of responsibility, self-direction, management and problem-solving skills, good judgment, professionalism, and discretion.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree by the start of the summer required
  • At least one year of experience as a Residential Assistant, or comparable residential leadership experience, strongly preferred
  • Previous summer camp experience and experience leading large groups desirable
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to delegate
  • Enthusiasm, responsibility, and team-building skills
  • Ability to maintain calmness under pressure
  • Must be available for mandatory training June 18th–June 23rd
  • Applicants who can be available for an entire program (for example two sessions for the High School Program or three sessions for the Middle School Program) preferred

Salary: The standard salary for Senior Residential Assistants is $935 per week plus a full room and board package.
