British Literature: Reading and Writing around London

In this college-level literature course, London's landscape, architecture, and neighborhoods will bridge historical works of literature and the works of a new generation of postcolonial English-language writers. Students will study both texts and the city, visiting the areas and landmarks that feature in the writing they read. Students will cultivate their attention to architectural, social, and textual detail; in group and individual assignments, students will both present information about the literary significance of each place and complete short, analytical papers about the related texts.

Session 1 (July 19 - August 7)

Age and grade requirements: 9th, 10th or 11th grade in Spring 2009, and age 14 - 17 on July 19, 2009.
