Steeped in history and tradition, with the ingenuity of a global leader for the 21st Century, Beijing is an enriching city that allows students to challenge themselves academically and culturally. Participants of the EPGY Summer Institutes Beijing Program will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in Chinese culture while participating in a rigorous academic course. Courses for the Beijing Program include Topics in Bioscience and Biotechnology, Global Economics, and International Relations. Course descriptions can be viewed on the International course page.
In addition to their main academic course, students will visit historic sites and participate in local Chinese activities. Sites visited will include the Great Wall of China, the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven, Tiananmen Square, Beijing market places and the Summer Palace. Local activities may include introductions to tai chi and other Chinese martial arts, Chinese calligraphy, and Mandarin language lessons.
Beijing Program participants will reside and study on the campus of Tsinghua University, one of China's premier institutions, located in the northwestern suburbs of Beijing. |
