The EPGY Introductory Physics course covers much of what is generally covered in a first year physics course. The course does not require a calculus background.
The mathematical prerequisites are concurrent enrollment in Honors Beginning Algebra.
This is a full year course divided into three parts, (A, B, C shown above). (3 units)

Lectures and Exercises

The course is divided into several lessons, most of which begin with a lecture presented as digitized audio accompanied by formatted text.

After most lectures, students are asked to try some sample questions about the new material. Once they have some practice, they receive graded online quizzes.

Textbook and Homework

Throughout the course there are homework assignments, which are not graded but are discussed in the virtual classroom.

Exams

After each major section of the course there is an exam which is graded by the tutor. There is also a written "take-home" final examination. The course grade is largely based on these exams.

Each week, students submit a report of their work electronically to their instructor, who reviews the student's work on the exercises and looks for potential trouble areas. The instructors are available for phone or email consultation should the student have any questions.
