Appendix F: Sample Partial Orderings of Students Above Dominated Students

This appendix shows sample partial orderings of students above dominated students. There is one dominated student from each grade, and all connections to that student that come from any layer above that student are shown. These sample diagrams were chosen for their complexity. The vast majority of the diagrams generated using the data of this study are extremely simple; most have only one layer above the dominated student. This fact points to the phenomenon that when individual differences in multiple dimensions of ability are taken into account, the ordering of students according to ability induces fewer ranks. This finding is further supported by the data in Table 7 in the body of the study.
