Caedmon Haas graduated from the University of Pennsylvania magna cum laude with a B.A. in English and Classics, and received her M.A. in Classics from Stanford in 2009. She has studied Latin since the tender age of 12 and remembers her early years as a Latin student very fondly. Ms. Haas has taught Latin, Roman history, and Greek mythology at Stanford and has tutored high school students in Berkeley in Latin poetry. Her academic interests include poetry of all periods and focus on the translation and imitation of ancient literature in the modern era.
When not teaching Latin or reading fiction, Ms. Haas can be found singing with opera companies in San Francisco and sharing her love of opera with others. She also has a serious interest in long-distance cycling that has led to some epic adventures, including a cross-country journey by bicycle from San Francisco to Philadelphia in the summer of 2006.
