Dr. Franzson was born in Akureyri, Iceland, where he grew up and graduated from Menntaskolinn a Akureyri. He received a Diploma from The Reykjavik College of Music in Music Composition and Theory in 2001, and a Ph.D. of Musical Arts in Composition from Stanford University in 2006. He joined EPGY as a course developer in the fall of 2006.
His music has been performed at festivals such as Young Nordic Music (Oslo, Helsinki, Reykjavik), Maerz Musik (Berlin), World Days of New Music (Stuttgart), and Running Hoofs (Ulan Bator), as well as in various cities around the world including New York, Berlin, Brisbane, and Stanford. His musical activities include instrumental composition, electronic music, the use of artificial intelligence in composition, and improvisation and noise.
